The best area to stay in Da Nang for a dental trip is the one closest to your clinic. The city is split by the Hàn River. The city centre, near the west bank, has the historic downtown, the riverfront and Han Market, with food and taxis close by. Across the river, the My Khe beach side in the Sơn Trà area is calmer and puts the sea a short walk away. Choose your clinic first, then book on the same side of the river.

Da Nang's districts were reorganised into wards in 2025, but most maps and addresses still use the old names, so this guide does too. For clinics, flights and the weather, see our Da Nang city guide.

How to choose where to stay

Distance to the clinic. You'll go back and forth several times. After an injection or surgery, a short trip back to bed matters more than a sea view. Ask the clinic which streets are closest.

Which side of the river. The Hàn River divides the city. Staying on the same side as your clinic saves crossing a bridge for every short appointment.

Quiet for recovery. Riverfront and beachfront roads can be busy in the evening, when locals come out for the breeze or a swim. Ask for a room away from the main road.

Soft food nearby. Da Nang is known for street food such as mì Quảng noodles and grilled bánh tráng rolls, which are better left until you can chew. Stay where there are cafés and simple restaurants for cháo and soups. Our guide to soft food after dental surgery has ideas.

A fridge and help at night. A fridge helps with yoghurt and cold packs, and a reception that's staffed late helps if you've had surgery.

The city centre (Hải Châu)

Hải Châu was the city's administrative, cultural and commercial centre, and the municipal hall, theatre and central market are here. The historic downtown lies near the west bank of the Hàn River. Bạch Đằng Street runs along the riverfront, where locals gather in the late afternoon, and Vietnam's tourism board suggests starting at Han Market for street food. The Museum of Cham Sculpture and Da Nang Cathedral are an easy walk from the centre.

Staying here suits a short treatment such as crowns or whitening, or a week with several visits, when you want food and taxis on the doorstep.

The My Khe beach side (Sơn Trà)

My Khe Beach is in the Sơn Trà area, along the Hoàng Sa-Võ Nguyên Giáp coastal road. The city's tourism portal describes a 900-metre stretch with a rescue team on duty for swimmers. Vietnam's tourism board says its golden sands sweep south from the Sơn Trà Peninsula.

The beach side suits a longer stay, such as a veneer trip, when you want somewhere calm to walk in the evenings. Remember the sea is for later: after extractions or implant surgery, wait until your dentist says the wound has closed before you swim.

The Sơn Trà Peninsula

A winding coastal road leads through forest, quiet coves and temples, according to Vietnam's tourism board, with views over My Khe Beach to the south. It's peaceful, but it's further from most clinics. Keep it for a day out once you've healed, unless your clinic is close by.

Getting in from the airport

Da Nang International Airport sits on the south side of the city, inside the city itself, with separate terminals for international and domestic flights. The short ride in makes it easy to fit a final check-up in before your flight. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the simplest way to your hotel. Our guide to getting around Vietnam explains how to use ride-hailing apps.

Planning around the weather

Da Nang has a wet and typhoon season from about September to December, with the heaviest rain from September to November. Vietnam's tourism board recommends March to May and September to October for the beach, and describes long showers from November to February. Sources differ on the exact months, so if you travel in autumn or winter, leave spare days and stay close to the clinic. Our guide to the best time to visit Vietnam compares the regions.
