Where to stay in Nha Trang for a dental trip

Where to stay in Nha Trang on a dental trip, comparing the Trần Phú beachfront and centre, the area north of the Cái River and the resorts at Bãi Dài, plus getting in from Cam Ranh airport.

Plan my trip

Key points

  • The best place to stay in Nha Trang for a dental trip is close to your clinic, which usually means the centre, along Trần Phú street or a block or two behind it.
  • North of the Cái River is quieter, with the Po Nagar Cham towers and the rocks of Hòn Chồng, but every appointment means a ride back across the river.
  • Bãi Dài, south of the city towards Cam Ranh airport, is a long beach lined with resorts. It suits the end of your trip, once treatment is finished.
  • Cam Ranh airport is about 30 km south of the city. Bus No. 18 takes about 50 to 60 minutes, and taxis and ride-hailing cars also run.
  • The rainy season runs from September to December, so leave spare days if you travel then.

The best place to stay in Nha Trang for a dental trip is close to your clinic. For most patients that means the centre: Trần Phú, the street that runs along the city beach, and the blocks just behind it. North of the Cái River is calmer, and the resorts at Bãi Dài, south towards the airport, are the quietest of all. Choose your clinic first, then book within a short walk or ride of it, and save the resort for the days after treatment.

This guide compares the main areas for a treatment trip and covers getting in from Cam Ranh airport. For clinics and the weather, see our Nha Trang city guide.

How to choose where to stay

Distance to the clinic. On a dental trip you'll go back and forth to the clinic several times. After an injection or surgery, a short trip back to bed matters more than a sea view. Ask the clinic which streets are closest and check the route on a map.

Quiet for recovery. The beachfront can be busy day and night. Vietnam's tourism board names Trần Phú and Hùng Vương as streets with plenty of bars and pubs,Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source so ask for a room at the back or look one street further in.

Soft food nearby. Nha Trang is known for seafood. Stay near cafés and simple restaurants where you can find cháo, steamed fish and soft noodles. Our guide to soft food after dental surgery has ideas.

A fridge. Useful for yoghurt, soft fruit and anything your dentist tells you to keep cold.

Help at night. If you're having surgery, a reception that's staffed late is reassuring.

Trần Phú and the centre

Trần Phú runs along the city's main beach. Vietnam's tourism board says most accommodation in Nha Trang is a block or two from the beach, and that the city is walkable.Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source Smaller hotels and homestays tend to sit in the streets a little back from the sea.

The centre is the easiest base for most treatment trips. Many clinics are in the central streets, food and taxis are close at hand, and the beach promenade makes a gentle walk on a rest day. For a short treatment, such as crowns or whitening, a beachfront hotel works well. For implants or surgery, a side street near the clinic is often quieter and closer.

Nha Trang's train station is also in the centre,Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source which helps if you're arriving overland from elsewhere in Vietnam.

North of the Cái River

The Cái River meets the sea at the north end of the city. Vietnam's tourism board points to the holy towers north of the city, built by the Cham people between the 7th and 12th centuries.Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source These are the Po Nagar towers, and the rocks of Hòn Chồng are nearby on the coast. The tourism board also notes a handful of spa-like mud bath and hot spring facilities in the hills just north of the city.Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source

This side is calmer than the beachfront, and it puts Po Nagar and Hòn Chồng within easy reach on free days. The catch is distance: unless your clinic is up here, each appointment means a ride back across the river into the centre. It suits a longer stay with few appointments better than a week of daily visits.

Bãi Dài and the resorts towards Cam Ranh

Bãi Dài is a long beach south of Nha Trang, on the way to Cam Ranh airport, with a string of large resorts along it.

For a dental trip, Bãi Dài works best at the end. During treatment, the drive into town for every appointment adds up, and a resort far from the clinic is a long way from help if something hurts at night. Once your dentist has done the final check, moving south for a few beach days is a good way to finish, and it puts you close to the airport for your flight home.

If you plan to swim, snorkel or dive at the resorts or on island trips, ask your dentist first. Getting in from Cam Ranh airport

Cam Ranh International Airport is about 30 km south of the city, with shuttles, taxis and ride-hailing cars.Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source Bus No. 18 runs between the airport and the city centre, stopping on streets such as Nguyễn Thiện Thuật and Trần Hưng Đạo, and takes about 50 to 60 minutes.Trusted SourceKhanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Du lịch số Khánh Hoà)Route 18 Cam Ranh Airport, Nha Trang City Center, Dat Moi busView source

A taxi or ride-hailing car is simpler with luggage or after a long flight. Because the transfer takes a while, don't book an appointment for the hour you land, and leave a comfortable gap between your last check and your flight home. Our guide to getting around Vietnam explains how to use ride-hailing apps.

Planning around the weather

Nha Trang's rainy season runs from September to December.Trusted SourceVietnam National Authority of Tourism (vietnam.travel)The official tourism website of Vietnam, run by the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism.View source Treatment carries on as usual, but heavy rain can cancel boat trips and make long rides less pleasant. If you travel in those months:

  • Stay close to the clinic, so you aren't relying on long rides in the rain.
  • Book island trips and resort days for the end of your stay, and leave a spare day in case boats are cancelled.
  • Leave spare days before your flight home.

Our guide to the best time to visit Vietnam compares the regions.

Booking checklist

  • The clinic's address, and a hotel within a short walk or ride of it
  • A room away from the street, especially near Trần Phú or Hùng Vương
  • A fridge, and somewhere nearby for soft food
  • Late reception if you're having surgery
  • A car booked from Cam Ranh airport, or a plan for Bus No. 18
  • Resort nights at Bãi Dài only after your final check
  • Flexible dates in case the clinic needs an extra visit
